SCOTLAND

Keith Carter & Associates have been providing expert employment evidence since 1984 and have prepared over 850 reports for Scottish solicitors.

In the course of our work as employment consultants we have built up, what we believe to be, the largest database of expert employment evidence in the UK covering more than 13,000 reports. We have acted on instructions from both pursuers and defendants. The cases we deal with typically require an assessment of lost earnings and altered career prospects.

Meeting clients’ needs

Our aim: to clarify the effects of an incident on a pursuer’s employment prospects and earnings potential. This involves an assessment of the pursuer’s education, training, career and earnings history and consideration of these against local occupational trends and norms.

Scottish database: our experience has enabled us to develop a database specifically for Scotland which includes detailed information on local labour market, the education system, training, pay and benefits.

A wide range of occupations: our reports have analysed many occupations in Scotland and we have developed specialist areas of knowledge, the offshore industry being one such example.

Specific research: we analyse the dynamics of the local work force including skill shortages and unemployment rates. Any recommendations regarding the pursuer’s future employability is considered in the context of local opportunities.

Giving evidence: our senior consultants have given evidence many times at the Court of Session and the Sheriff Courts.

Analysis of future job prospects: we also provide a detailed critique of a pursuer’s future employment prospects, including any training that may be necessary, the type of work they might perform and the level of earnings they might expect. Local job opportunities are taken into account when indicating the length of time the pursuer may need to find a job. Once a case is concluded, we are also able to offer careers counselling if appropriate.

Clients: Over 75% of Scotland’s leading personal injury practices instruct us on a regular basis.

Both pursuer and defendant firms using our services include:
