Keith Carter & Associates have been providing expert employment evidence for litigation in Wales since 1984.
We have completed over 450 Welsh cases and, as the longest established employment consultancy working in personal injury in the UK, we have compiled a total of over 15,000 expert employment reports. These are undertaken for claimants, defendants and by joint instruction.
We are Law Society checked and are members of both the British Academy of Experts and the Expert Witness Institute; we write regularly for legal journals.
The cases we deal with typically require an assessment of lost earnings and altered career prospects for actions regarding:
Personal injury
Long term health problems
Professional or clinical negligence
Unfair dismissal, discrimination and other tribunal work
Our experience has enabled us to develop an excellent database of labour market and salary data specific to Wales which is constantly updated. As a major commercial and industrial centre in the UK, the structure of the Welsh economy has altered massively in recent years.
Many traditional careers in heavy industry, for example, have declined with the result that litigants can no longer rely on such areas of work. Employment and earnings must therefore be viewed in line with changes in the labour market so that an accurate picture of earnings and opportunities can be presented for each individual.
Meeting clients’ needs
A comprehensive assessment: is made by KCA of the changed employment and earnings opportunities facing the claimant. Retraining is considered as part of the analysis in order to give an accurate assessment of quantum. We visit the claimant when necessary.
Changes for disabled workers: our extensive library and database developed over years of working in this area, enables us to keep abreast of changes in the employment market. Technological improvements mean new modes of work and more flexible options are available to disabled people. Similarly there have been changes in financial support available.
Specific research: where necessary, we undertake further detailed research in order to gain the appropriate data. Solicitors who have instructed us in Welsh cases include:
