COVID and the claimant: reworking future loss

The pandemic disrupted more than employment levels. It also distorted the earnings data used to calculate future loss.

Writing in the Journal of the Law Society of Scotland in 2022, Keith Carter examines how COVID, Brexit and wider economic change affected different occupations and sectors in very different ways. He considers why short-term figures cannot simply be projected into the future, and makes the case for a more individual, evidence-led approach to assessing future loss of earnings.
