Charlotte Cato Research/Information Manager Charlotte Cato Research/Information Manager BA (Hons), MA Charlotte is the Research/Information Manager for KCA with approaching 8 years’ experience of assisting preparing labour market assessments for the Court. During her time with KCA, Charlotte has worked on hundreds of cases covering different occupational areas. In particular, she specialises in Military cases, both on behalf of the Claimant and Defendant. Charlotte has expanded the in-house library for KCA through Freedom of Information requests related to cases for the Armed Forces and the Civil Service. She deals with all aspects of research, including the offshore oil and gas industry, the finance sector, historical abuse cases and complex medical negligence cases. Charlotte has vast experience in dealing with overseas cases, especially the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Hong Kong and Europe. Charlotte initially joined KCA as a Research/Information Officer in August 2016 following graduating with an MA (Hons) in Military History from Brunel University London but progressed to the role of Research/Information Manager in January 2020. Since becoming the Research/Information Manager, Charlotte has pioneered a new approach to calculating loss in historical abuse cases, providing four models of possible career earnings making an adjustment to take account of different types of work records. This approach is used in all of KCA’s historical abuse cases, particularly those which are part of the Scottish Abuse Inquiry. This is an approach which has found favour with the Scottish Courts. Charlotte contributes to Thompson Reuters’ publication Facts and Figures which is published every year, providing information for F5, F6 and F7 related to regional unemployment statistics and average weekly earnings by region. “Please provide my thanks to Mr Carter for all of his help on this case, this was greatly appreciated.
